The International Symposium on Graph Drawing GD2004, a premier international conference on information visualization technology, is a traditional forum where researchers and practitioners working on both theoretical and practical aspects of the area annually meet from all over the world. The research contributions presented at the conference are traditionally published in a volume of the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series of Springer-Verlag.
In 2004, the 12th edition of the Symposium will be held at City College, CUNY, in New York City, USA. City College is a prestigious institution founded more than 150 years ago, which used to be called the "proletarian Harvard." Amongst its alumni are Bernard Malamud, Ira Gershwin, and several Nobel Prize winners. The College is located in the cultural heart of Harlem, one of New York City's many tourist attractions.
